Brick.

I've been putting a lot of sweat into this house. Some blood and so far no tears but that still remains a possibility. I just cleaned up the brick post, my arms are sore from the sledge trying to GET to the post and then crowbarring away the old plaster. It's beautiful. More beautiful than I thought it was going to be. It's 9 feet high so I'm going to find some old, old lanterns and hang one on each side. Give my house that romantic feel I love so much. This house is going to be beautiful. It has the bones, it just needs the love. We joke about weighing the house when it's done. How much lighter it would be. Unreal.

The wood walls you see behind it will be removed, it'll just be a free standing post. The empty void on the ceiling beside it will also be gone. Once I get the hardwood floors underneath the laminate resanded, it'll look outstanding with the post.

I'm falling more and more in love with this house. Once the debris is cleared out and I can start putting up new drywall and so on, that's when I'll really start to feel the magic.
